This prairie plant is a species of milkweed native to North America. Butterflies and are attracted to the large amounts of nectar produced by the flowers, especially the Queen and Monarch butterflies who feed off of it in the larval stage of development. It is also known as "Indian Paintrbursh" and "Pleurisy Root" in different regions.
