Small yield of large, boring melons
by Michael
I have had a middling experience with this seed. I got good germination, and had two hills with two seedlings each. They grew vigorously, and overflowed the 4x4 bed with vines.
I saw blossoms, and a fair number of tiny melon starts. But only two melons took, side by side and ripening at the same time. They were both over 7 pounds each, so they are much bigger than stated in the description. The appearance was somewhat similar to the picture, mottled green until ripe, then turning yellow and verging to overripe in a matter of a few days. The flavor was mild and not very sweet in the first one. We gave the second one away because it was more than we could use.
Overall, I liked the novelty, but would rather get more and better melons for my time and garden space.
Delighted with this melon

Dry farmed in Oregon. Put in the plant on June 10, watered well, and didn't water again. Harvested the first melon Sept 6. Large, flavorful, sweet and juicy with fairly solid flesh. There are several more on the plant and we're are looking forward to harvesting them. It tied with the Ha'ogen melon for first harvested melon of the season.
Delish!

Had many melons from my one plant. It did sprawl outside of the 4x4 raised bed, but I planned for that. The first one was so delicious I'm going to grow more next year and so is my mom.
