- 12-18 red cloves per head
- Matures early
Author and garlic enthusiast Ted Meredith describes this variety as ”not too mild, not too hot, with a mellow spicy tang and fragrant aroma.” Bulbs are large with pink-brown skin. ‘Tochliavri’ excels in warm winter climates, is slower to bolt than many other softneck varieties, and matures early. It was collected by Dr. Peter Hanelt of the IPK gene bank, Gatersleben, Germany, in 1988 from the village of Tochliavri, Republic of Georgia. As a softneck, this variety produces an early harvest and adapts to most climates and soils. Softneck, 12-18 cloves per bulb.
