This variety works for:

  • Fresh eating
  • Drying

Store your tomatoes at room temperature. The flavor and texture of tomatoes suffer when the fruit is chilled.

Heirloom tomatoes are bred for their flavor and simple preparation best allows that intense flavor to shine through. Tomatoes can be sliced and drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper or layer slices with basil and mozzarella for a Caprese salad.

Roasted tomatoes have a richer, concentrated flavor.

There are hundreds of salsa recipes to try and most are dramatically improved with the use of heirloom tomatoes. Tomatoes are also the main ingredient in Gazpacho, a cold soup that is perfect for summer.

Prolific and delicious

by

I've grown these for a couple of years now. Very prolific and reliable cherry tomato. I'm overrun by the end of the season!

Delicious, prolific producer - Riesentraube

by

First year planting Riesentraube from seed, 100% germination, easy to transplant, PROLIFIC, sweet producer. Pop these like candy for snacks, or salads, or whatever -- late SEP and cooling down in Central NY but these plants are PROLIFIC producers, despite my battle with tomato hornworms - which I won. Just 3-4 plants will throw off dozens of sweet, delicious cherry sized tomatoes well into a warm SEP in Central NY. I had harvested a dozen to dozen and a half tomatoes, every 2-3 days, from 6 Riesentraube plants from Mid-AUG to Mid SEP. Have saved seeds and will do Riesentraube again, in 2022.

Didn't grow once planted

by

Seeds started off great, got true leaves, hardened off for 2 weeks then once planted they stopped growing. So much time and energy for nothing

My most dependable tomato

by

I've being growing Riesentraubes for a decade now. This is my most dependable tomato, and I try at least one new variety per year. 100% germination, very prolific production, have never seen a hornworm on my plants. If you grow in containers, give this plant at least a cup of water every day...it's thirsty! The fruits are about an inch in diameter, very juicy, produce good viable seeds for next year.

Prolific - delicious producers

by

I did not deliberately plant Riesentraube tomatoes this year, but two germinated from two tomatoes left in my soil from my 2021 planting. These two plants produced more tomatoes than my wife and I could consume. Prolific producers. 1" - 1.25" in diameter. Be sure to spread them out - 3' between plants, with a support pole at least 3' tall - these tomatoes are delicious - straight off the vine, or in salads, or however one chooses to work them into one's diet. Have saved seeds for 2023.
