Apple Tree, Ramsdell Sweet

The finely textured, juicy, sweet flesh of this variety is enclosed in a smooth dark red skin, with hints of yellow and a dusky bloom. Th large fruits are rounded with a slightly conical shape and ripen from late August through late September in zone 4. Rev. Hezekiah S. Ramsdell of West Thompson, Connecticut began popularizing the apple around 1837.
