Beautiful flowers on sturdy plants

by

These are gorgeous at their peak and highly attractive from bud formation through seed production. They produce a good quantity of blooms, which have staying power, and the variety of colors is very nice. They have sturdy stems and an erect posture. The only issue I had, which was completely my fault, is that some of the lower foliage has died back because I underestimated how much water they require when they reached their full size. I am growing them in containers and they are thirsty every single day. I think they might be better off in the ground or with irrigation in the planters...at least in my garden/zone. They will droop if not given water consistently, but recover quickly when you do. Going forward, I will not miss the opportunity to include them in my plantings. They are, by far, one of my new favorite flowers and the subject of many photos.
