Melon lovers can thank a small group of Canadian preservationists for bringing back this incredibly flavorful variety in the 1990s. Its thick, green flesh is highly aromatic and has a sweet, complex taste. For peak flavor, harvest fruits when slightly under-ripe, before the rind turns yellow and the fruit softens. Melons are round to slightly flattened with a heavy, silvery netting and deep ribbing, measure 8"" in diameter, and weigh 7-8 pounds. Organic.

Montreal melons are amazing!
by Green Mt Rebel
Outstanding melon- grew it on large mounds of composted horse manure per an old-time planting method- set in 11 two week old indoor starts (from 12 seeds) after our last frost date, and got 14 melons- nice size, wonderful flavor.
Needs more heat
I'm giving these two stars, because they did produce heavily in my western Washington garden, however the flavor was really unpleasant. It had an almost soapy taste to it. It was really difficult to catch them at the correct ripeness, and even then they weren't very good. I think they probably need a warmer climate to improve the flavor. They did grow extremely vigorously, and ripen in our short growing season, so they're worth trying.
