Item Details

Short stocky plants covered with lovely 2" long miniature bell peppers with an excellent fresh flavor. A friend gave the yellow and red versions to Seed Savers Exchange member Lucina Cress of Ohio. She stuffed the peppers with cabbage, pickled and canned them to sell at her church bazaar. Great for salads.

  • 90 days from transplant
  • Organic
  • Sweet pepper
  • Fruits ripen to bright red
  • Fruits grow to 2 inches
  • Plants are stocky and short

This variety works for:

  • Fresh eating
  • Salsa
  • Pickling

This pepper is: SWEET

Bell peppers are sweetest when they mature to a full color, but the crunchy green flesh is a great addition to many savory dishes. You can stuff these peppers with cabbage, then pickle them or toss raw peppers in a salad.

Roast your red peppers over a burner or under a broiler, then peel and puree with hummus or slice and add to grilled eggplant and mozzarella sandwiches with fresh basil.

Growing Instructions

Instructions - Sow seeds indoors ¼” deep. Peppers germinate best in warm soil, so gentle bottom heat may be helpful until seedlings emerge. Wait to transplant outdoors until soil is warm.

  • Start Indoors: 8 weeks before last frost
  • Germination: 14 Days
  • Plant Outdoors: 12-24” Apart
  • Light: Full Sun

Gorgeous, flavorful single serving size

My husband loves bell peppers. I don’t. I thought these would be perfect one portion size and they are. He loves the flavor!

Outstanding Survival Garden Variety

by

When it comes to a survival garden, the heirloom mini bells (all colors) are highly productive/resistant to diseases/ rot.... We've found them to be much more productive than any of there variety (especially larger types). Regarding taste, they are tasty (unless you are fussy). You can also make them tastier (as with anything), if you know how to cook... sauteed with butter, coconut oil, Himalayan sea salt, garlic, culinary herbs. They are to die for!!!! : ) Perfect for pickling, stuffing, dehydrating for winter/survival food preservation.

My family and I highly recommend!!!

Bad batch of seeds?

by

I was really excited to try these seeds but after a few attempts I gave up. Most did not germinate. Of the ones that did germinate, they seem really stunted. I have some that are going on four months now and are only about 2 inches tall. I can only assume I got a bad batch of seeds! All my other seeds from this company have been great.

Seed Savers Response: Hi Amy, I'm sorry to hear that this seed did not meet your expectation for germination. We do test germination every year to make sure only the best seed leaves our location. Please reach out to our customer service team to be sent a replacement for this seed.

Won't buy again..

The pepper plants germinated fine indoors...and when planted outside, they grew to be more than 2 feet tall. But NO blooms and NO peppers. At first I thought maybe because of the soil but the mini yellow ones did just fine.

Discerning chipmunks agree

All of them ripen- unlike their bigger cousins. Not big enough for cooking, but okay for a snack or in salads.
