(Zinnia elegans) Extracted from the Moscow branch of the Vavilov Institute in a coup by breeders in 1991, this spectacular zinnia variety thankfully made its way to North America. It produces 3' tall upright plants with 3-4" single and double flowers that are brilliant red, with an occasional orange blossom. Easy to grow and great for arrangements. Annual.

Vigororous and very cheerful
This was featured in the print catalog as a staff favorite, and although I hardly needed more Zinnia seeds, I went ahead and ordered. A vigorous and very cheerful performer--what catches my eye when I visit the garden first thing in the morning.
