Gorgeous finely curled blue-green leaves hold their color even in severe cold. Uniform low-growing plants are 15" tall with a 20-35" spread. Very hardy; will overwinter with mulch in zones 4-5. Ornamental and delicious. High in vitamin A. 53-65 days from transplant. ±8,900 seeds/oz.

Instructions - Sow seeds indoors ¼" deep. Plant out just before the last frost. Kale is most tender and delicious after a frost. Harvest can continue even after snow.

Easy to grow kale, seems bug resistant

These are easy to grow and taste like... kale :D. I'm also growing the red russian varietal, and for some reason, the bugs don't touch this one. The purple one, right next door, are torn up, but these remain pristine. I'm growing them easily in NW FL and continually harvest the outer leaves.

I've been growing this variety for years and it's my favorite type of kale. Bug resistant, hearty until hard frosts, and freezes well. Prolific and easy to grow.
Winter Survivor

I live in zone 6B (N Idaho) and was shocked that the kale survived the winter with no mulch or care. Once the snow melted away the new growth took off. Unfortunately the elk like to eat healthy and munched out on the kale. What little bit of stalk remained now has tiny new growth popping out.

This kale is amazing. Planted it at the end of September and it grew till it bolted in May! At one time it was under 10 inches of snow and was ready to go after it melted days later. Also survived 5 degree weather for a couple of days. I didn't have to buy salad for months!

Dwarf blue curled kale overwinteers really well on Vamncouver island, even after snow. Yellow flowers attract all types of bees in the spring - and seeds harvest nicely and grow in the following years. Excellent flavour, excellent heirloom plant
Kale first timer

First time growing kale and I think I got spoiled with this variety. Very easy with impressive results without much work. I must agree with other reviews on bug resistance. Used nothing and had no bugs!
Nice size, great hardiness

This kale has abundant leaves but doesn’t grow too tall for the protective cages we use against deer. It’s harder to see and pick off the cabbage moth caterpillars thanksgiving on the lacitano kale because of all the frilliness, but it’s productive and easy to grow. I’ve grown it for years from one packet of seed and the seed I’ve harvested from my own plants.
