This variety has delighted the Cajun Country since the 1950s! Splineless, compact plants reach 3–4? tall and yield an abundance of relatively early 6"-8"-long pods with great flavor. Introduced by Southern Exposure Seed Exchange in 1989, this versatile gem thrives in hot climates but also adapts well to cooler ones. Its beautiful blooms are a bonus.

Okra has a reputation for its slimy texture, but when it is cooked properly it is a delicious addition to your summer meals.
Chop your okra into half inch long pieces, dip in Buttermilk, coat in a flour and cornmeal mixture, fry and drain it for a crispy treat. You can also try a lentil and okra curry or create a gumbo dish with chicken or shrimp.

Growing Instructions
Instructions - Sow seeds outdoors when the soil has warmed. Tolerant of heat and drought. Keep well picked for higher yields.

Very Impressive Okra

Results from 2023 season: Did not scarify or soak the seeds. Soil temperature well above 70 degrees. Seed germination rate was better than 95 percent. Plants were up in about a week. They were healthy and beautiful, perhaps the strongest performing okra I've ever grown. Blooms are indeed stunning.
Had difficulty getting pods that were not woody. Don't know where the disconnect was; chalking it up to something in the way I cared for it or our early burst of super hot, dry weather. Sadly we got almost no usable pods except for some small early ones that were pickled. Opened the first jar just before writing this review and it's delicious. Would suggest a high level of vigilance on pod size. It seems when they started getting plump, they got woody regardless of length. It may be wise to favor sub 4 inch, slender pods. Needless to say I will grow this variety again and recommend it without reservation.
