Learn to Grow it
This crop can be direct seeded into the garden 3-5 weeks before the last frost date, or you can start seedlings indoors around the same time. Transplant seedlings after your last frost.
You should plant your potatoes about 6 inches deep and 12-15 inches apart. As you plants grow, pile more soil at the base of the plant to protect the tubers from sunlight.
Keep the soil around these plants moist until the seed has germinated and weed free throughout the growing season. Mulching the soil around the plants will help keep the roots cool.
The tubers/potatoes start to form after the plant's flowers bloom. If you are growing potatoes to store over the winter, wait to harvest them until the vines have started to die back at the end of the season.
