(Mentha sp) Dark toothed leaves are used extensively as
garnishes and in the food industry for flavoring
candies, salads, and ice cream. Excellent with
chocolate. Perennial in zones 4-10, begin harvesting
60 days from transplant.
4-6 weeks before last frost
Green Thumb Tip Sow seeds indoors just beneath the surface of
the soil. Plant out after the danger of frost has
passed in late spring. Can also be directly sown
outdoors just before the last spring frost. Mint will
spread vigorously; to control its runners plant in a
container sunk into ground. Prefers average, welldrained
soil and will tolerate dry conditions.
