Store your tomatoes at room temperature. The flavor and texture of tomatoes suffer when the fruit is chilled.

Heirloom tomatoes are bred for their flavor and simple preparation best allows that intense flavor to shine through. Tomatoes can be sliced and drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper or layer slices with basil and mozzarella for a Caprese salad.

Roasted tomatoes have a richer, concentrated flavor.

There are hundreds of salsa recipes to try and most are dramatically improved with the use of heirloom tomatoes. Tomatoes are also the main ingredient in Gazpacho, a cold soup that is perfect for summer.

Excellent picture-perfect tomato

by

We love this variety for serving/platters. Plants were not as tall as the Amish Paste we grew, but definitely worth every plant since it provided us beautiful shaped, tomatoes. True to its statement, blemish free. Definitely a keeper of seeds.

The Perfect Tomato

by

These have become my go-to tomato! They grow well, and are the perfect size and taste for all around eating. My favorite for caprese or BLTs, but meaty enough to throw in sauce, salsa, or other processed recipes.

A star!

by

This tomato is outstanding! Sweet, juicy, meaty tomato great for slicing and eating. Days from transplant to ripe tomatoes was about 80 days here in northern New England. Had no issues with blights or pests.

Not a producer

by

These never really took off. I was hoping they could be my main producer, but I barely got any and they were difficult to determine if they were ripe or spoiled (very squishy).

A perfect mid-sized beauty

by

Eva Purple Ball produces perfect medium sized tomatoes. The skin has a delicate haze on top of its deep red color. The flavor is full and sweet. The plants are strong, but are not massive. Be careful, as the tomatoes will drop when perfectly ripe, so check your plants daily.

I plant it every year.

These tomatoes have excellent flavor. They are a pink, blemish free, medium size tomato that is a decent producer. Great for slicing or for fresh eating. It has a nice sweet, but balanced flavor. I plant these every year here in Western NY.

Only variety I grow anymore

by

I’ve gardened for most of my 60+ years of life. I’ve grown lots of varieties of tomatoes and the Eva Purple Ball is the only variety I grow anymore. Last summer I got 141 pounds of tomatoes off 18 plants. They have excellent flavor for fresh eating, great for canning, sauces, salsa etc. I even made dehydrated tomato chips which are delicious. The vines are more disease resistant than most other varieties, they produce all season even in the hot humid summer when other varieties slow down and I always have tomatoes until frost. I’m in North Carolina zone 7B

Will always plant these

by

I love these tomatoes. I have been planting them for about 5 years now. I will never not plant them. They are perfectly round and perfectly sized, a little smaller than a baseball but I got many on one plant so they are a very good producer.
