The Story of Dinosaur
This variety was given to Seed Savers Exchange years ago by a member from Louisiana. He was Cherokee and noted that these gourds were traditionally used to decorate sweat lodges.
The variety is also known as "Maranka" and "Swan" gourd.
Gourds were brought to Europe and the Americas as early as 11,000 BCE and to Asia by 6,000 BCE. Gourds were domesticated in both Africa and Asia independently.
Many cultures have used gourds to create tools, toys, bird houses, and musical instruments as well as objects of art.
