One of America's best known and most talented folk musicians, Greg Brown has been a frequent performer on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" radio program. Over the years, Greg has recorded some 20 albums and CDs. His songs have been performed by Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, Michael Johnson, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Greg's benefit concerts at Heritage Farm are legendary. The concerts are held outdoors, with the audience seated on a grassy hillside between Seed Saver's landmark barn and beautiful gardens. Long-time fans say the setting is magical, the most intimate venue, outside of your very own backyard. So bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Feel free to come early. Stroll through Seed Savers' gardens and Historic Orchard. Explore the hiking trails around the farm, and buy a copy of "Sin, Salvation and Savings Seeds" at the Lillian Goldman Visitors Center. That CD is a recording at the 2007 benefit concert at Heritage Farm by Greg Brown, Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman, Bo Ramsey, Dave Moore, and JT Bates. The musicians have generously donated the recording of their performances to Seed Savers Exchange.
Refreshments will also be available at the visitors center. Camping is extremely limited, due to damage from last year's floods. Call ahead to check availability.
Parking at Heritage Farm is also limited, which is why a shuttle bus will provide frequent service between free parking lots in downtown Decorah and the farm before and after the concert. For updates, check our web site regularly.
