Seed Savers Exchange is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and sharing heirloom seeds. Since 1975, our members have been passing on our garden heritage by collecting and distributing thousands of samples of rare garden seeds to other gardeners.

    Recently, state governments in Pennsylvania and Maryland have intervened to prevent the free distribution of home-saved vegetable seeds through public seed libraries in their states, citing legislation meant to regulate the commercial sale of seeds.

  • Fall Harvest School At Heritage Farm

    Join us near Decorah, IA on September 27th to celebrate harvest time and learn about fall garden prep, seed saving, food preservation, and fermenting. Workshops begin at 9:30am and will be presented by SSE staff and regional partners.
